Shredded Beef Burgers

We have missed burgers since starting keto, so we decided to make our own. These turned out really well – delicious actually! They are not as firm as ordinary burgers (due to the oopsie rolls being softer than ordinary burger buns), which means they can be a little messy to eat. They’re also fiddly and time consuming to make. But the taste and enjoyment more than makes up for both the mess and the fuss.

low carb shredded beef burgers - suitable for keto, paleo, atkins diet

Ingredients:

  • 400 g (1 lb) of shredded beef
  • 8 oopsie rolls
  • 8 rashers of streaky bacon
  • 4 eggs
  • 120 g (4.2 oz) of cheddar cheese, sliced
  • 40 g (1.4 oz) of mayonnaise (I used Kewpie brand)
  • 4 Tbsp of tomato ketchup (I used Jok’n’Al brand tomato ketchup)

Recipe:

  1. Spread the cheese slices over the oopsie rolls and grill them in the oven (at 200 C or 390 F) until the cheese is bubbly.
  2. Cook the bacon rashers until they are crispy.
  3. Fry the eggs in a pan coated with non-stick spray until they are cooked to your liking.
  4. Spread the mayonnaise on top of one half of the rolls (these are the bottoms), and the tomato ketchup on the other half (these are the tops).
  5. Spread the shredded beef on the bottom half of the rolls.
  6. Add two rashers of crispy bacon on top of each lot of shredded beef.
  7. Add a fried egg on top of the each lot of bacon.
  8. Put the roll tops face down onto the eggs to make 4 burgers.
  9. Enjoy!
