We have missed burgers since starting keto, so we decided to make our own. These turned out really well – delicious actually! They are not as firm as ordinary burgers (due to the oopsie rolls being softer than ordinary burger buns), which means they can be a little messy to eat. They’re also fiddly and time consuming to make. But the taste and enjoyment more than makes up for both the mess and the fuss.
Ingredients:
- 400 g (1 lb) of shredded beef
- 8 oopsie rolls
- 8 rashers of streaky bacon
- 4 eggs
- 120 g (4.2 oz) of cheddar cheese, sliced
- 40 g (1.4 oz) of mayonnaise (I used Kewpie brand)
- 4 Tbsp of tomato ketchup (I used Jok’n’Al brand tomato ketchup)
Recipe:
- Spread the cheese slices over the oopsie rolls and grill them in the oven (at 200 C or 390 F) until the cheese is bubbly.
- Cook the bacon rashers until they are crispy.
- Fry the eggs in a pan coated with non-stick spray until they are cooked to your liking.
- Spread the mayonnaise on top of one half of the rolls (these are the bottoms), and the tomato ketchup on the other half (these are the tops).
- Spread the shredded beef on the bottom half of the rolls.
- Add two rashers of crispy bacon on top of each lot of shredded beef.
- Add a fried egg on top of the each lot of bacon.
- Put the roll tops face down onto the eggs to make 4 burgers.
- Enjoy!
