Shallow-Fried Camembert

I haven’t quite been able to master this so that the end result looks as good as it tastes. The crumb mixture doesn’t tend to stick as well as it should, and the camembert will often stick to the base of the pan. I’ve tried a few different tweaks to try and improve this but nothing has worked to date.

However, as long as you can get past the look (which is a bit messy and squashed) you should enjoy the taste – crispy-ish coating with melted camembert on the inside. Yum!

  1. Have you tried using Panko breadcrumbs? The Japanese ones….

  2. They look great! I’ve been planning making these for a while and I think what might work is (1) a dusting of almond flour before the egg to help it stick, and (2) freezing the battered cheese first, before frying.

    Thanks for the inspiration!

  3. Looks pretty good, thanks for the delicious looking snack idea! I would swap the Canola oil for Coconut oil or Avocado oil which don’t turn Trans Fatty when heated.

  4. I would try crushed pork rinds … Panko crumbs would take the dish out of Low car/Keto

  5. May I just say what a comfort to uncover somebody who genuinely understands
what they’re talking about over the internet. You definitely know how to bring a problem to light
and make it important. More and more people need to look at this and
understand this side of your story. It’s surprising you’re not more popular since you
    certainly have the gift.

  6. Please don’t use canola oil for frying, it’s very unhealthy. Instead use coconut oil, lard or ghee.

  7. I shall make this but air fry in my Ninja Foodi. I’m gluten intolerant and previously used crushed cornflakes as a sub for breadcrumbs. Thanks for the recipe. Entertaining a friend on keto food plan.
